Abstract

A study on the normal predicted standards of spirometry for healthy Korean adolescents (Male: 203, Female: 200) was carried out from April to May 1987.
The results obtained are as follows.
1. Each level of FVC, FEVO.5, FEV1, FEF200~1200, FEF25~75% was increased significantly according to aging.
2. The mean values of pulmonary function test were as follows.
FVC(L) M=3.52¡¾0.56 F=2.71¡¾0.30
FEV0.5(L) M=2.50¡¾0.46 F=1.94¡¾0.32
FEV1(L) M=3.35¡¾0.53 F=2.61¡¾0.29
FEV1/FVE(%) M=94.61¡¾7.72 F=96.32¡¾4.56
FEF200~1200(L/sec) M=5.44¡¾1.47 F=4.10¡¾1.02
FEF25~75%(L/sec) M=4.48¡¾1.01 F=3.64¡¾6.77
3. These five parameters FVC, FEV0.5, FEV1, FEV200~1200 FEF25~75% of
ventilation function tests disclosed positive correlation with age and height.
4. Multiple regression analysis, with ventilatory capacity as the dependent variable, using age and height as independent variables, resulted in the equations shown as follows.
Male; FVC=0.0592A+0.0457H-4.9670
FEV0..5=0.0472A+0.0218H-1.8510
FEV1=0.0603A+0.0404H-4.2850
FEV1/FVC(%)=0.4704A-0.0701H+987703
FEF200~1200= -0.0707A=0.0374H+0.3673
FEF25~75%=0.0938A+0.0301H-1.9701
Female; FVC=0.0574A+0.0258H-2.2077
FEV0.5=0. 0157A +0.0173 H-1.0063
FEV1=0.0450A +0.0240H -1.8312
FEV1/FVC%=0.4803A-0.0678H+98.3102
FEF200~1200=-0.0388A+0.0341H-0.7045
FEF25~75%=0.0232A+0.0294H-1.3269
